Culture Jamming

When we first read about culture jamming, one of the first things that came to mind was The Who's and their album "The Who's sell out." Obviously I'm too young to have gotten their album when they first came out, but after become interest in the band a while, back, I start listening to their material, and I found that particular album interesting because of the way it's created. To start of the cover on the album is a perfect example of a facet of culture jamming, because it has the four band members in a mock advertisement, their faces and product cartoonishly distorted, while the text seems to invoke ads of the 1950's.

Obviously the title itself is also suppose to be taken in jest. Being accused of selling out is something almost every band has to deal with at one point or another, so the Whos use that to make fun of themselves, along with the fact that in a way they have been selling out by creating songs for products(which are actually featured in the album itself)
